*IN MY NAME YOU SHALL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES ( 2 )*
*What is the nature of tongues?*
*In Isaiah’s prophecy, Jesus’ statements and Paul’s teaching there were adjectives used for tongues. Let’s examine them.*
Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
The word ‘stammering’ implies unintelligible while the word ‘another’ implies is strange and different.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
The phrase ‘new tongues’ implies it is yet to have been spoken by anyone; a different kind.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The word ‘other’ implies a strange and another kind of means of communication.
1st Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandethhim; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
The word ‘unknown’ in this instance is in italics which means it wasn’t in the original document however the translators added it, hence it depicts that it was a different mode of communication.
The texts above attest to the fact that tongues is a different mode of communication; it is not human language, its the language of the new creature (1st Corinthians 5:17) by the spirit. Hence the reason for the adjectives attached to it. Thus, these further buttress what Paul said about tongues, that no man understands it. It is a different mode of communication; no man (human mind) can comprehend tongues. It’s important to take note of the following.
1) Tongues are NOT and NEVER addressed to men (hence the need that it must to be understood by the hearer is unfounded).
2) Tongues are addressed to God hence NO MAN understands tongues.
3) Tongues are spoken out mysteries in THE SPIRIT.
*Confession:* Tongues is not human language, when I speak in tongues I speak to the father (God) and he hears and understands what I say.
