HOW TO SHARE YOUR FAITH (9)

You must get better.

2nd Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.*

Coming with the revelation of Jesus Christ in our salvation is the ministry where we spread the knowledge of Christ.

We must never assume that everybody knows Jesus.
You can live with people in an area, they can know your name but may not know what you do. Some people may know where you work but they will not know what you do there.

Sometimes we assume that because people have heard about Jesus, it translates to their knowing him. We often assume that the presence of ‘many churches’ in the neighbourhood means that people know Jesus. Not so!

A believer must not make such assumptions.
… which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

his knowledge refers to a precise understanding.

Beside your knowing Jesus and walking in the light of God’s word, there is also equipment for you to be able to share about Jesus Christ precisely.

The more of the word of God you know, the more skillful you will become in presenting the message.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Why did Jesus called it the gospel?
He did so because it is what he has done for us, so it has become good news to us. The gospel is so called because it involves what Jesus has done.

1st Corinthians 15:1
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
Vs 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
Vs 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
Vs 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The gospel is about what Jesus did in three days and three nights. The gospel therefore, is Jesus’ story told to us by the Holy Spirit.

Philemon 6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

… the communication of thy faith… refers to the sharing of your faith, that is, your communion and participation in it. So it is what you share with other people.

It means what you share with other people about your faith will become effectual when you acknowledge every good thing that is in you that is in Christ Jesus

The word, ‘acknowledging’ means precise knowledge or accurate information. It is the same word Paul used in 2nd Corinthians 2:14.

This means that a believer will only be as effective in sharing his faith in Christ when he knows what Jesus has done for him. Our effectiveness can be measured by the degree of our understanding of what Christ has done.

Hence my evangelism / soul winning becomes more effective every time I hear the word of God about Jesus.

The more of God’s word I understand, the more effective I will become in ministry.

*Confession:* I choose to be better in my understanding of Jesus, I will give myself to the word, I am much more effective. I am a skilful soul winner.
